Open Ocean Safari + Whale Watching

Unforgettable Marine Adventures in Cabo

Description

It’s time for an unforgettable adventure across the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, searching for incredible up-close encounters with marine life. Our certified and experienced guides are not only experts in reading the ocean and wildlife behavior, but they’re also skilled photographers, videographers and when requested drone pilots as well—so you can take home stunning memories of your experience.

We depart from the Cabo San Lucas Marina at 9 AM, making a short stop at the iconic Arch before heading into the open ocean. From there, we spend approximately 4 hours on the water, searching for incredible marine life like cownose rays, mobulas, dolphins, whales, and whatever nature wants to offer—always prioritizing the animals’ well-being and your safety. We return to the marina at around 1 PM.

The animal’s well-being is our top priority, ensuring that every encounter is done the right way: responsibly, ethically, and with the utmost care for the ocean and its inhabitants, therefore encounters underwater are not guaranteed.

Available as shared tours and we also host tailor-made expeditions for those looking for a private and unique experience.

NOTE:

Please note that during spring-summer we are running our safaris from La Ventana for the Mobulas & Cetaceans migration, for more info click here

Baja’s ocean changes with the seasons; gray whales and Humpback whales in winter, rays leaping in spring, dolphins and sea lions hunting in the fall. Every safari is unique, but the abundance never fades.

Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
An open ocean safari where we explore the waters of Cabo San Lucas in search of pelagic wildlife. We don’t follow a fixed route, we read the ocean in real time to find the best possible encounters.
From December to April, whale season brings frequent sightings of humpback whales, often displaying active behaviors at the surface. You may also encounter dolphins, rays, sea lions, turtles, and occasionally sharks and other pelagic species.
No. This is the open ocean, and sightings are never guaranteed. We always do our best, but nature is unpredictable.
When conditions are safe and respectful for the animals, yes. If not, we observe from the boat. Safety and ethics always come first.
Please note: whales are always observed from the boat only, in accordance with regulations.
We monitor ocean conditions to operate in the calmest possible areas, but offshore conditions can still be unpredictable.
If you’re prone to seasickness, we recommend taking medication beforehand.
Our shared experiences are suitable for children 10 years or older.
If you’re traveling with younger kids, we recommend booking a private trip for a more flexible and comfortable experience.
What certifications do your guides have?

All of our guides are certified in CPR and First Aid, and hold the official NOM-09 federal certification required to operate as professional wildlife and marine tourism guides in Mexico.
Beyond certifications, our team is highly experienced in in-water safety, wildlife behavior, and responsible encounter practices.

Orcas can be seen in Baja, but sightings are never guaranteed.
When we encounter them, any in-water interaction depends entirely on their behavior. We only consider entering the water when animals are calm, curious or feeding and undisturbed. If they are hunting, or showing signs of stress, we keep our distance.
In Baja, orcas are often linked to seasonal food sources like mobula rays, whales, dolphins, sharks and turtles, which is why sightings are unpredictable.
Every encounter happens on their terms, so we recommend keeping an open heart and bringing good energy to maximize your chances!

No certification is needed, but you should be comfortable swimming in the ocean. Basic snorkeling experience is recommended.
Snorkel gear, wetsuit, snacks, lunch, water, and a selection of photos/videos from the day. A full photo package can be added if desired.
We keep small groups to ensure a more personal, safe, and high-quality experience, with a maximum of 8 guests.
Swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, windbreaker, sunglasses, hat, and dry clothes for after the tour.
