Mobula Migration & CETACEANS - DAY TRIP at la ventana

Swim with Mobulas, Dolphins & Whales in La Ventana

Description

If you liked our Cabo Safari you won’t want to miss this! An unforgettable Ocean Safari from La Ventana, where you’ll experience the thrill of up-close encounters with some of the ocean’s most amazing pelagic species, such as mobula rays, dolphins, whales, and our local sea lion colony.

La Ventana, with its nutrient-rich waters, is a hotspot for marine biodiversity and migration route for big animals including the mighty blue whale, but the highlight definitely goes to the mobula rays that migrate to these waters in huge numbers, creating a spectacular display as they leap and “fly” through the air. Swimming with them is truly a unique experience.

Rare Cetaceans like Pilot whales, sperm whales, blue whales and a variety of dolphins are drawn to this area as well, attracted by the abundance of food present. During the Spring/summer time, La Ventana becomes a sanctuary for these beautiful creatures, offering the perfect opportunity for observing them up close underwater or from the safety and calm of the boat.

Our experienced and professional guides and photographers are passionate about ensuring ethical and respectful wildlife encounters and safety encounters for our guests. They’ll lead you through responsible interactions, making sure both you and the animals have a safe and enjoyable time.

NOTE:

Due to our priority on ethical encounters with marine life, encounters underwater are not guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions

What are the meeting details?
Meeting point: La Ventana (exact location provided after booking) Time: 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
An open ocean safari in La Ventana where we search for mobula rays, dolphins, whales, and other pelagic wildlife. Every day is different, and we adapt to the ocean in real time.
Mobula rays are the highlight, often forming large aggregations. You may also encounter dolphins, whales, sea lions, turtles, and other pelagics!
No. This is the open ocean, and sightings are never guaranteed. We always do our best, but nature is unpredictable.
When conditions are safe and respectful for the animals, yes. If not, we observe from the boat. Safety and ethics always come first.

Orcas can be seen in Baja, but sightings are never guaranteed.
When we encounter them, any in-water interaction depends entirely on their behavior. We only consider entering the water when animals are calm, curious or feeding and undisturbed. If they are hunting, or showing signs of stress, we keep our distance.
In Baja, orcas are often linked to seasonal food sources like mobula rays, whales, dolphins, sharks and turtles, which is why sightings are unpredictable.
Every encounter happens on their terms, so we recommend keeping an open heart and bringing good energy to maximize your chances!

Our shared experiences are suitable for children 10 years or older.
If you’re traveling with younger kids, we recommend booking a private trip for a more flexible and comfortable experience.

What certifications do your guides have?

All of our guides are certified in CPR and First Aid, and hold the official NOM-09 federal certification required to operate as professional wildlife and marine tourism guides in Mexico.
Beyond certifications, our team is highly experienced in in-water safety, wildlife behavior, and responsible encounter practices.

No certification is needed, but you should be comfortable swimming in the ocean and have prior snorkeling experience.
Snorkel gear, wetsuit, snacks, lunch, water, and a selection of photos/videos from the day. A full photo package can be added if desired.
We keep small groups to ensure a more personal, safe, and high-quality experience, with a maximum of 8 guests.
Swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, windbreaker, sunglasses, hat, and dry clothes for after the tour.

We monitor ocean conditions to operate in the calmest possible areas, but offshore conditions can still be unpredictable.
If you’re prone to seasickness, we recommend taking medication beforehand.
